Dr. Yohn Jairo Parra Bautista is one of the first Computational Data Science PhD awarded from at HBUC university in USA. Dr. Yohn Jairo Parra Bautista got his PhD at Jackson State University. Professor of Data Science and Computing at Florida A&M University. He is leading a summer abroad course in data science at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy in collaboration with Florida A&M University. He works across Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to increase the number of Blacks with expertise in data science and expand data science research.

Dr. Parra Bautista is a former collaborator in developing a major and master in data science at the College of Science and Technology in Florida A&M University. Previously, he participated as Microsoft Visiting Data Science Educator, where gather knowledge from industry perspective. Topics include: Responsible AI, ML and Differential Privacy which are areas that Microsoft leads with inclusiveness and impact in all their products.

He was elected to run a REU in Data Science and AI Across the NSF Florida-Georgia Louis Stroke Alliance for Minority participation. He is a Fellow of IEEE and ACM professional societies.

Dr. Parra Bautista completed his undergraduate studies in Business at Santo Thomas University in Bucaramanga, Colombia. He is part of the infusing Data Science and AI in the undergraduate curriculum at the college of Science and Technology.
